Poyyale Family
Poyyale is a Nair family with long history from Palakkad, Northern district of Kerala, Southern-most state in India. Poyyale Family’s Ancestral Home is in the village of Pallavur[1], with known routes originating from another village in Palakkad, Ayilur.
One arm of Poyyale family about 200 years ago shifted to today’s Ancestral home “Poyyale House” which is built in the traditional “Nalu Kettu” model. Poyyale family considers Goddess of “Peringottukavu Temple” [2] as protector of the family. This vintage home is situated near to famous Shiva Temple, Thrippallavur Mahashivakshethram.
This family now have an estimated 250 odd members spread around the world. There are still a few of us living in the very house which is now more than 200 years old.
The family embraced land reforms in full spirit and most of the lands were shared with general public when land reforms in India took place.
